USB-C describes the connector, not every feature
A USB-C port may support data only, data plus charging, or data, charging and display output. The hub cannot add a host capability the laptop does not provide. Check the laptop manufacturer’s specification before assuming HDMI output or high-power charging will work.
Power-delivery numbers can be misleading
A hub advertised with 100 W input may reserve some power for itself, leaving less for the laptop. The charger, cable, hub and laptop must all support the intended power level. For high-performance laptops, the original charger may still be required.
Display support
Resolution, refresh rate and the number of displays depend on the host system, operating system, hub chipset and display standard. Buyers using multiple monitors should verify the exact supported arrangement rather than relying on a large “4K” badge.
Buy only the ports you need
More ports can mean more cost, heat and complexity. A focused four-port hub may be a better travel accessory, while a powered desktop dock makes more sense for a permanent multi-device setup.
